The Newnan Police Department is headed by Chief Douglas L. “Buster” Meadows.
Chief Meadows has been serving the Newnan Police Department for over 44 years. He began his career as a civilian communications officer in 1973. He became a patrol officer in 1975. His next assignments consisted of a Desk Sergeant, Patrol Sergeant, Patrol Lieutenant, Administrative Lieutenant, and the first and only Administrative Captain of the department. He became the Chief of Police in 2002. Chief Meadows is a Certified Law Enforcement Instructor for general courses, Radar/Lidar, and Defensive Tactics. He has also completed over 2600 hours of Law Enforcement Training.
